WHAT:

LITTLE ROCK – The 12th Annual ONE Thumbs UP Charity Weekend is a 3-day series of community-focused events designed to raise awareness for epilepsy, support youth with special needs, and fund scholarships through the OTU Endowment. This year’s lineup includes an Adult Game Night, a 5K Epilepsy Awareness Color Walk, an Epilepsy Education Session, a Charity Basketball Game, and the signature OTU Community CookOWT.

WHEN & WHERE:

August 15 - Adult Game Night at Daiquiris & Dawgs
August 16 - 5K Epilepsy Awareness Color Walk in downtown Little Rock
August 17 - Epilepsy Education Session, Charity Basketball Game, and OTU CookOWT at Philander Smith University

WHO:

Presented by ONE Thumbs UP, Inc. and featured guests including local leaders, community organizations, youth participants, and supporters from across Arkansas and beyond.

WHY:

ONE Thumbs UP, Inc. was founded in memory of Rainia “NeNe” Holmes, a 17-year-old who passed away from complications of epilepsy on January 14, 2011. During seizures, when Rainia was unable to speak, she used a simple “thumbs up” to let her family know she was okay.

Established by her brother, Ryan W. Holmes Sr., ONE Thumbs UP, Inc. honors Rainia’s legacy through scholarships, youth empowerment, and epilepsy awareness. The organization has raised over $30,000 in scholarships for students at Bloom Township High School in Illinois and Philander Smith University in Arkansas.

Its signature Charity Weekend brings together the community for events with proceeds supporting scholarships, Thanksgiving baskets, the Backpacks for Kids Program, and the Epilepsy Foundation.
